SUMMARY:West O Snow Festival
DESCRIPTION:The West O Snow Festival \n\nFeaturing the Nebraska State Snow Sculpting Championship\n\n\n\nSnow sculpture or Snow Art is a sculpture form hat is much like sand sculpting or ice sculpting. and often in full view of spectators\, thus giving it kinship to performance art in the eyes of some. The materials and the tools differ widely\, but often include hand tools such as shovels\, hatchets\, and saws. Snow sculptures are usually carved out of a single block of snow about 6 15 ft (1.8 4.6 m) on each side and weighing about 20 - 30 tons. The snow is densely packed into a form after having been produced by artificial means or collected from the ground after a snowfall.\n\n\n\nWe will have 12 teams competing in the 2nd Annual Nebraska Snow Sculpting Championship with the teams starting on Thursday and concluding on Saturday night. The teams will all start with a 10' tall block of snow that will be sculpted to a design of their choice and the visitors along with the committee will vote and crown a champion.\n\n\n\nThere will be fun events for the entire family including hot chocolate and coffee stations\, a full bar\, food trucks and more! We will even have a giant slide for the kids to have fun with along with other games and competitions throughout the weekend. \n\n\n\nThe cost to attend is $5 per day for adults or you can buy a 4-day pass online for $20 that allows you to come and go as you please. Kids are free. All proceeds will go to the Western Douglas Food Basket Program that feeds hundreds of families each holiday season.
