I am a career nurse and Army Colonel, now retired and serving on the Ashland City Council, Ashland Area Economic Development Corporation, Ashland Rotary, LWVNE Board of Directors, and other organizations. I want to support businesses, farmers and families in the District. I stand for strong and healthy communities and transparent, accountable governance. 

Nolan earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic and graduated with honors from Cleveland University-Kansas City in 2019. While at Cleveland, he spent many weekends traveling throughout the US to attend over 600 hours of continuing education courses while he was a student.

Nolan is from Ord, Nebraska. He graduated from Ord High School and then attended Nebraska Wesleyan University where he earned a BS degree in Exercise Science. At NWU, he played football for four years and basketball for three.

Nolan and his wife Darrien welcomed their first “human” child into the world — Theo Jane Clausen. Their other two children, Salvy a labradoodle, and Ollie a miniature schnauzer are the best big brothers. They both look forward to getting involved in the Elkhorn community.

Sara Kowalik, L.Ac., is a Chinese Medical practitioner licensed to practice acupuncture in Nebraska and is a board certified Diplomat in Oriental Medicine by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She graduated with a Master’s of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Texas College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Austin, Texas.  Her training was 3 years long and included over 3,000 didactic and clinical hours.
Sara is very passionate about using Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine to help resolve an individual’s pain and stress, improving their health and quality of life.

I have lived in Omaha most of my life (Husker through and through).  I have 3 impressive  grown daughters.  Growing up in Ohio I had a wonderful grandmother who had a strong influence on my life.  My eldest daughters Anna has special needs and is a bright light and teaches me daily.  These two amazing people have created a place in my heart to work with Seniors and families with additional needs individuals. 

Next Step Fitness is a personal training studio that specializes in one-on-one private personal training in-studio.  We, my husband, Kerry McLaughlin, and I began working with a personal trainer at a predecessor business, Fitness Together, a personal training franchise.  We quickly discovered how out of shape we really were and working with a personal trainer changed our lives.  In my case, I lost over 20 pounds and was able to run a half-marathon at age 58.  It was amazing and wonderful.  When the business was listed for  sale, Kerry  bought it and operated the business for ten (10) years. 

As of February 2022, we left the franchise and went out on our own as Next Step Fitness.  Kerry, his team and I are continuing to do what we love - changing our clients' lives.

They moved to Coalinga, CA, raised 4 sons while Greg won two National Endowments for the Humanities, published a book, a poster and began his second vocation as a motivational speaker espousing excellence and the life of balance.  After 45 years of teaching Greg and Katie retired to Elkhorn, NE.  After all, where else, but Nebraska, would you retire if you love the "Good Life"?
